As we all know that Ganesh Utsav, a 10 day celebration of the birth of Lord Ganesha, is just around the corner! In many Hindu scriptures, during Ganesh Utsav, the Idol is worshipped using turmeric and other natural ingredients. This Idol should be made of clay as when it is immersed in water it’s a tribute to the environment. But over the last decade the Idols are made out of POP, and when immersed in water, they are leaving harmful chemicals for underwater life.

We are not really being environmentally conscious if we can’t correct this simple step. We need to say no to Idols made of chemical, plaster of paris, clay, plastic, thermocol (polystyrene). We need to go for natural, biodegradable material so that after immersion kriya it does not pollute water and surroundings.

You can bring this change in your home by celebrating this festival with #ecofriendly seed Ganesha and pay a real tribute to our Mother Earth by helping the environment go green again.

Why do we have ‘seeds’ in Ganesha?

After you place the Idol in your garden and do water immersion kriya, the clay will mix with mud and what will come out is a plant that brings life to any surrounding.
